Our Story
Our mom – Mila Gonzales - has always been passionate about two things - our family and her kitchen. She always wanted the best food for her family, and she believes that nothing beat homemades cooking. Thus, we grew up being used to yummy “homemade” everything – from homemade chicharon and juices to homemade breads and desserts. It was always a joy for our friends and relatives to eat in our house because they knew that our mom never failed to serve them something extraordinarily delicious from her own kitchen.
In 2000, with orders rapidly increasing, our mom decided to put up her own business called Mom’s Manyaman (My mom comes from Pampanga, and Manyaman means delicious in kapampangan.). She knew that there was a demand for homemade dishes and desserts, so she started delivering to offices, schools, and hospitals. In 2002, she found a space in Greenhills, and put up her first stall, which became successful. Her freshly-baked ensaymadas became her best-seller.
In 2005, with our aspiration to pay tribute to our mom's love for her family through her cooking, my sister and I resigned from our corporate jobs. We joined my mom's business, and gave it a new name (Must Be Mom's) and positioning. We also decided to concentrate on home-baked pastries.
With our love for our mom’s food and our desire to share the unique goodness of homemade products to more people, we will strive to always create the best products that will joyfully fill the heart and tummies of our customers.

"To you I call, O LORD my Rock; do not turn a deaf ear to me.
For if you remain silent, I will be like those who have gone down to the pit.
Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.
Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy.
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song."

Client Reviews:
"When I first tasted Must be Mom's ensaymada around 6 years ago, when I received a boxful of these mouthwatering stuff as a Christmas gift. It tastes good, I thought, and I should have more. Problem is, I haven't stumbled into a Must be Mom's shop since then (besides, I'm already happy with the enzaymada bites of Razon's and Muhlach's).
Remember those times when you're looking for something and can't find what you're looking for (U2, I guess, have the same problem), then you find it when you're not looking? It's the same phenomenon as seeing lots of vacant cabs when you're not looking for one.
When I forgot all about Must be Mom's, looking for furniture in Tiendesitas in the past week, voila, I saw an outlet. And it happened at this time when I'm trying to lose weight. It's really cruel."

"Must be Mom's is one of my favorites ensaymada here in Manila. I tried it once in SM Megamall and got addicted to their yummy Dulce de Leche Ensaymaditas. Whenever I see their booth, I see to it that I brought home a pack of my beloved ensaymada. Wow! I got hooked! I'm addicted! Who wouldn't?"

"I discovered this quite by accident; I was lining up at the ATM machine at the BDO branch along Aurora Boulevard, across the old Magnolia factory in Quezon City, when I saw a cart full of trays being rolled in front of me, towards the small store next door. The trays were filled with what seemed to be cheesy, fluffy, mini ensaymadas dripping deliciously, decadently, with a thick, rich, caramel sauce.
I left the queue and followed the man pushing the cart towards the office next door, which turned out to be the main office/commissary of Must Be Mom's."

"What's the recipe for a successful home-based business? A unique blend of passion, creativity and lots of love. Mrs. Mila Gonzales turned her passion for baking into a full-blown venture, offering freshly-baked ensaymadas, when she opened her very first stall in Greenhills six years ago.
Some ensaymada "purists" would say that this kind of ensaymada is not made like the real, traditional Filipino pastry because it's cottony soft and quite airy. But no matter what they say, I so like the taste of these ensaymaditas. The spurts of creamy dulce de leche filling combine with the grated cheese topping to create a salty-sweet taste that is very endearing. As a light afternoon snack, it's perfect when paired with a cup of tea or coffee.
The dulce de leche ensaymaditas are similar in taste to the pastel buns from Camiguin, but the grated cheese gives them a more playful spin that tickles the tastebuds."Mad About Food
" I've been seeing Must Be Mom's booths in a lot of malls and bazaars selling their delicious looking baked goods, but I have never tasted any of their products until last night, as someone gave a box of it to my dad. My dad was given the box of 6 cheddar ensaymadas which costs Php190 (USD 4.35). An ensaymada is a soft fluffy bread with toppings such as cheese, sugar, cream, etc. The box was really cute; it was a light pink box with light brown cover and the cursive Must Be Mom's label on the middle. It looks very presentable for bringing to your friends or relatives when you visit their house and other such occasions. It has a very homemade and cozy feel.
Upon tasting the ensaymada, I have to say that it is one of the best I've ever tasted. For a cheddar ensaymada, it was actually quite perfect. The bread was soft but still chewy, and was very light and fluffy. There was a generous topping of grated cheddar cheese on top which was salty and tasty. There was also a small amount of sugar and cream. I loved the fact that unlike so many ensaymadas, Must Be Mom's cheddar one was not sweet at all and the cheese was the main attraction. It was really delicious and I enjoyed every bite of it. One piece is enough to fill your stomach if you are not too hungry.
All in all, if you like ensaymadas that are soft, fluffy, cheesy, and not too sweet, this is the one for you. It is quite affordable, looks good, and is great to give as a simple gift. They also have other variants such as Dulce de Leche ensayamditas and Queso de Bola ensaymadas which I hear are good as well. I would highly recommend this as it is one of the very best I've ever tasted among the multitude of ensaymadas in the market."
